ACID HOUSE RAGAS
PROJET SOLO SITAR DE RISHI DHIR (ELEPHANT STONE)
MONTREAL PREMIERE - Seated barefoot on a small rug, Acid House Ragas, a.k.a. Rishi Dhir, plucks his sitar, captivating audiences with its exotic sound. The musician formed the Montreal-based indie band Elephant Stone in 2009 and has gained a devoted fan following for his signature eccentric sound. Starting with some traditional tunes, the Acid House Ragas set works in electronic rhythms that blend seamlessly with the dreamy twangs of the sitar, building until it is tradition-meets-synthesizer. This is full-blown psychedelia, performed live by a mesmerizing artist who will captivate the crowd until the only thing left to do is dance.
Anemone is the dream/pop, groovy psychedelic rock recording project of Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Chloé Soldevila with boys Miles Dupire-Gagnon, Zach Irving, Gabriel Lambert and Grégoire Carrier-Bonneau. With a penchant for melodic classicism, 1960's pop rock, airy psychedelia and inspired by California’s waves through an open van window, Anemone is an effortless voyage with love.
Anthony Piazza is an artistic collaborator in Atsuko Chiba – an independent Montreal based band whose live shows aim to create immersive sensorial environments by combining sound-based practices and live projections. As the band’s drummer, he has integrated a flexible hybrid performance setup, which includes electronic pads – in which he experiments with immersive soundscapes and live visual projections in real-time.
AVEC LE SOLEIL SORTANT DE SA BOUCHE
KRAUT ROCK / FUNK
Psych rock, krautrock, desert rock, punk rock, noise rock, afrobeat, experimental pop, post-rock, electronic music, Avec le soleil deploys a panoply of buoyant musical ideas, subtly sumptuous sonic treatments, and joyous stylistic nods — while remaining fundamentally devoted to working the groove, from a kaleidoscope of angles. This is post-modern psychedelic electronic funk-rock the likes of which we can honestly say we’ve not heard before.
DARK WAVE / POST-PUNK / STONER
Barre is a Montreal-based duo comprised of Thomas Pison and Sylvain Martet. The former assumes vocal and bass duties while the latter beats the drums and provides backing vocals. The band was formed in 2014, meant as an extra creative outlet while the members were busy with a now defunct project. Barre's characteristic sound stems from a minimalist approach that enables musical expression that is simple yet effective.
DARK WAVE / ELECTRONIC / POST-PUNK
CO/NTRY is an adult-contemporary post-punk duo comprised of Newfoundland-born/Montreal-based artists Beaver Sheppard and David Whitten. Lifestyle proclivities led the band to become a major part of the city’s seedy after-hours scene, where the enthusiastic reception they received from intoxicated audiences gave them the inflated sense of confidence they needed to continue. Though the band likes to think of themselves as genre-neutral, their music cycles through a wide variety of styles with manic indifference. Brooklyn Vegan described them as “clearly not giving a fuck” while Complex Magazine called them Montreal’s best band/art project.
CONSPIRATION PSYCHÉDÉLIQUE (DJ)
Il arrive à Conspiration Psychédélique Montréal, le monstre à huit têtes derrière Distorsion, de prendre charge de la sélection musicale... Follows, a torrent of subversive doodles, the likes of which might cause the listener's body to twitch in new ways...
WORLD / PSYCH POP
MONTREAL PREMIERE - Based in Chicago with roots in Latin America, Divino Niño is a band known for their classic approach to songwriting as well as their dreamy, tropical-inspired pop. Influenced by artists such as Roy Orbison, Serge Gainsbourg, and Haroumi Hosono, the Chicago band experiments with dynamic vocal ranges and washed out reverb to create a psychedelic, driving and heartfelt sound that is equal parts stoned and romantic, trippy and sincere, nouveau and old school- They're a foursome of foxy exotics with their own slang and their own way of harmonizing.
ELECTRO / NEW WAVE / EXPERIMENTAL
At a motel bar, one that had seen better days, that Mingo l'indien (Les Georges Leningrad) first mused a ballad on an out-of-tune piano. With the sound of the first few dissonant notes, a thundering bolt punctured Nunu Métal's right brain hemisphere. It was a revelation. In her Sherry-filled glass, she not only saw Death do the tango, but also Ellemetue's first steps. Drawing their inspiration from an intriguing blend of electronic music, roman choirs, surrealist tales and esoteric prophecies, Rare a l'état naturel echoes like knightly bellows spouting from the the depths of an imaginary swamp.
Based in Hull, Québec, FET.NAT brings together free jazz, noise, grooves and punk all while evoking the absurd theatrical humor of american wrestling influenced by the RIO (Rock In Opposition) movement and countless unnamable but familiar references from the sub-subconscious. Propulsive rhythms, unconventional guitar riffs, delirious saxophone, and comically nihilistic, theatrically driven spokenword comprise FET.NAT's sound.

Ganesh Baron Aloir is a Montreal based visual artist. Experimenting with video synthesis and video signal degradation, he explores the concept of lucid dreaming and nightmares where discordance and paradox reigns. The use of self made analogic systems mixed with 3D animations gives his creation it’s unique touch. His creative process relies in an organic relationship with his pseudo-random medium he tames according to his will.
Led by Pierre-Luc Bégin (Polipe, We are Wolves), visual artist Julia Daigle and actor / composer Éliane Préfontaine, Paupière displays a rare sincerity, combining raw lyrics and an uncompromised musicality. Their songs unfold at the junction of their numerous influences, inspired by the Montreal expat music scene (Arcade Fire), as well as the synthetic sounds of France in the 80s (Eli et Jacno). Paupière manages to reinvent the francophone image of its generation with looks and panache!
GARAGE / PSYCH / PUNK
Prepare yourselves for a superdope psych-punk thrashing from the lunatic minds behind Montreal’s CPC Gangbangs, Red Mass and Duchess Says. This new amalgamated group is called PYPY (π π), and this debut LP “Pagan Day” is a mind searing concoction of sinister wah-wah freakouts littered with fuzz, distortion and the necromantic scree of co-lead singer Annie-Claude Deschênes. Super disco-breaks reminiscent of the dance punk of NYC’s legendary 99 Records (ESG / Liquid Liquid) slither in on “Daffodils,” and the blistering pop of “She’s Gone” rivals Thee Oh Sees most burning tracks.
SISTERS OF YOUR SUNSHINE VAPOR
NéO-PSYCHÉDÉLIQUE / GARAGE
Everyone claims to be a DIY artist these days. Few bands however can honestly state that they handle every aspect of their recorded and live experience – from recording and mixing to artwork, design, and mind-blowing live visuals – in house. Though from Detroit, Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor’s reach is long. They’ve shared the stage with The Black Angels, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Dead Meadow, and Acid Mothers Temple; joined the elite ranks of psych bands at Austin’s Psych Fest for the second time in 2014; toured with Holydrug Couple, Loop, The Warlocks, and The Telescopes, and played SXSW and CBGB Music & Film Festival.
Fronting some of the most original, compelling and unpredictable bands (not only in Detroit, but the world) for over two decades, Tim Lampinen’s work with the Epileptix, Clone Defects, and Human Eye has always held a rapturous cult following. Yet his work with his current trio, Timmy’s Organism, presents Lampinen (aka Timmy Vulgar) along with bassist Jeff Giant and drummer Blake Hill, ready for their close-up. With Heartless Heathen the group touches on their artistic and spiritual forbears of Captain Beefheart and Destroy All Monsters, while amply ramping up the slop culture rapture of classic punk 'n' roll like Chrome, Crime, and the Damned as well as contemporaries like Thee Oh Sees. There’s a reason why Lampinen won a Kresge Grant for his work with his bands…he creates music that borders on art, live shows that border on theater. It’s high time the rest of the world takes notice. Are you ready?
(A TRIBUTE TO TAKESHI TERAUCHI)
SURF / PSYCHÉ / WORLD
MONTREAL PREMIERE - Very recently formed, Teke Teke pays tribute to the legendary Japanese guitar player, Takeshi Terauchi, who is celebrating the 55th year of his illustrious career. An absolute "guitar hero" of the 60's and 70's psychedelic rock scene in Japan, Terauchi, nicknamed "Terry", skillfully fused traditional Japanese melodies with surf rock à la Ventures. Bringing together musicians from projects such as Pawa Up First, Patrick Watson, Sonido Pesao and Gypsy Kumbia, the sextet plays a selection of songs from his repertoire from the Land of the Rising Sun, giving it a Western punk edge!
WE ARE WOLVES
After 10 years of alienating us with their relentless brand of punk and new wave, the Montreal trio is back with a new album that blends their love for electronic instruments with today's post-modern esthetics, dishing it out it in the most incisive way, thus forcing our feet to move along.

Yonatan Gat is a guitarist, producer and composer based in NYC. His solo work was featured in the New York Times, Pitchfork, Vice, New Yorker and People Magazine. He was chosen “Best Guitarist in New York” by the Village Voice in 2013. Gat's work champions stream-of-consiousness improvisation with an uncanny ability to absorb a staggering multitude of genres and styles into rock'n'roll.
Yonatan's Hybrid DJ Set is a cross between a DJ set and a performance. In the spirit of his live and recorded output, Gat paints the room with sound, playing guitar while mixing disparate, faraway styles of music, stretching the boundaries of a transportive, psychedelic experience as far as his imagination.
